Katherine's Garden #1 Collection

Katherine Schofield's abstract digital compositions are based on her original photography and seek to uncover the graphic elements of color, shape and line seemingly hidden from the casual observer in the flowers she cultivated in her garden.

The "Katherine's Garden #1" collection highlights a series of six one-of-a-kind blossoms that bloomed, and then faded from existence, in Katherine's garden between April and July 2007. Given the blossoms' fleeting existence, the images on which her compositions are based are unique in that they cannot be replicated by another photographer.

The original photographs were taken with a Canon PowerShot A85 4 megapixel digital camera in macro mode and processed in Adobe Photoshop CS2. The abstract digital compositions are giclee prints using archival inks on an Epson 3800 inkjet printer on Epson's archival Velvet Fine Art paper.

The work represented in Katherine's Garden #1 Collection comes as a result of a course Katherine completed in Digital Fine Art techniques as a requirement for her AAS degree. Taking the course awakened her dormant artistic talent and a passion for creating images that generate an emotional response from the viewer.

Katherine lives in Finksburg, MD, and can he reached by email at schofielddesign@comcast.net or by phone at 443-691-0131.
